Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody

Artist: Queen
Song: Bohemian Rhapsody
Album: A Night At The Opera (Get the album on Amazon)

This song has an unusual structure. First there's an intro, then a ballad part, then a guitar solo leads over to the opera part, then the hard rock part comes and then an outro to finish the song.
The intro is a four part harmony sung entirely by Freddie Mercury (The other band members are lip-synching in the video), while the opera part was sung by Mercury, Brian May and Roger Taylor.
Brian May's guitar solo before the opera part is beautiful.
The opera part is really memorable and catchy. The chorus effect was done by creating 180 overdubs.
The hard rock part really rocks and it contrasts with the opera part really nicely, especially since the transition is so sudden.
The outro is beautiful and the last thing you hear is the line "Any way the wind blows" followed by a gong.

I hope you like it :)

  1. A masterpiece. This song proves that Freddie was a musical genius. I didn't know about 180 overdubs. Incredible.

  2. Yeah, he definitely was a genius.
I got most of the info on wikipedia. It often has all sorts of information on the most popular songs :)

  3. Probably best Queen song. Do Stone Cold Crazy next!

  4. Sure, I can do that :) Haven't heard that one yet (I've listened way to little to Queen), but I'll check it out.
