This is Avantasia's longest song, lasting just over 14 minutes. Tobias Sammet, who wrote the entire song, along with the album, is a genius.
One thing about this song that makes it awesome is the wide variety of singers. The singers are: Tobias Sammet, Michael Kiske, David DeFeis, Andre Matos, Kai Hansen, Oliver Hartmann, Rob Rock and Timo Tolkki (The voice of the Tower). You can't go wrong with that many great singers in one song.
Timo Tolkki did the lead guitar as well. The solo is really good.
My favorite part of the song is right after the gutiar solo, when it's just piano and vocals, then adding other instruments. The melodies are fantastic.
I recommend buying the entire album to get the full story, as the lyrics will make more sense if you do. The link above is to the Golden Edition of Parts 1 and 2 of The Metal Opera, which is the one I own. There is a booklet inside that explains the story really well.
